National Parks In The Woodlands, Texas
There are several national parks in the Woodlands area! These beautiful areas provide visitors with a chance to see nature at its finest. For those of you looking for a unique date idea or just wanting to get out into nature, these parks offer an exceptional opportunity. Some of the national parks in Texas include:
Big Bend National Park – This park encompasses more than 118,000 acres and 101 miles along the Rio Grande on the U.S.-Mexico border. Here you will find many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, etc., as well as an abundance of wildlife. You can also explore the Chisos Mountains or go on a long, scenic drive.
Theodore Roosevelt National Park – This park is located in western North Dakota and includes over 70,000 acres of land with mixed grass prairie. It was named after our 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, and camping. You can also stop by the Medora Musical or attend one of their many events while you're there!
Guadalupe Mountains National Park – This park is located in West Texas on the Guadalupe Peak trail which is the highest natural point in Texas at 8,749 feet tall. There are many trails to choose from, including the challenging "Jailhouse Loop," which leads you to a beautiful view of the park. There is also a Visitor Center at this park where you can go inside and learn more about the area!

The Woodlands is home to several different zoos that allow residents and visitors to engage and experience wildlife and nature up close. Some of these include:
The Houston Zoo – This zoo is located within Hermann Park, and was recently renovated in 2012. It includes a beautiful entrance that replicates a rainforest passage, as well as an amazing carousel!
Gator Park – This park provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with alligators, snakes, and crocodiles. There is a reptile museum that makes this attraction educational as well.
